Stigma: stigma is the part of the pistil where pollen germinates



    Anther: The part of the stamen where pollen is produced . pistil the ovule producing part of a flower.





Ovule: is the structure that gives rise to and contains the female reproductive cell’s.




Summary : The pollen lands on the sticky stigma and that is what is able to fertilize the flower and make it fertile. The flower cycle is just as how we live are life. The brassica oleracea flower can tolerate maritime. The brassic is know as flowers. they contain ovaries , which cover and protect all of the seed’s.

Blog post 10


This is a close up image of the flower's stigma, and style, between some of the plant's anthers. The stigma is located on top of the style, which is a sticky portion where pollen grains frequently land. The style however, is a stalk below the stigma, supporting it.
In this picture, you can see both the anther, and the filament. A filament is a long, thin stalk that supports the anther.
This is a picture of the flower's petals, which attracts insects and other pollinators to the flower, and in the center you can see the anthers, where meiosis takes place, producing haploid male gametophytes.

Eliot Marinshaw Gattaca essay

For the first quote from the movie gattaca for the gattaca essay, the main character Vincent quotes in the climax of the movie "they used to say that a child conceived in love has a greater chance of happiness". The reason I have chosen this quote is because it explains how that if you can't feel good about yourself, then having someone by your side can help you succeed and improve your stamina to complete your task by having someone by your side. The relevance to the film the quote states is when the main character, Vincent, is born in the begging of the film, when he is carried from his mother to have is dna scanned and his results were proven that he was not given very many high class oppourtunities and that he was not given a very long time to live. One of the hints in the movie that resemble to one of the topics in the movie was the dna helix shaped helix at Jerome's house around the end of the movie. One of the themes from the movie that can be described is perfection vs happiness, as it shows in the film, people are being portrayed on how they will live, when instead, people like Vincent want to live how they want instead of being dictated on how and what they will do.

A millon years


In the game who wants to live a millon year it took many trys to make it all the way to a millon years

You have to choose a breed that u predict to live a millon years but there is alwas a catch there is drought or cold weather and u have to have the right breed to live a millon year if they cross breed it can create the perfect animal

Over time the animals increase and mutate but it needs to be perfect for the animals to live a millon year.

The animals might be changing but the evoriment changes to and the animal will die or reproduce more

I think that breeder have to pick and choose the breeds like the how to live a millon year.there are natural selection but u need artafiacal selection to make a plant worthy to be a cash crop.

Who Wants to Live a Million Years: Analysis of a Natural Selection Simulation

1.  It took me about 5 generations to finally win a game, I think it took me this long because the species I chose had good variations, and passed their traits down to their relatives that allowed them to survive through different climates and were able to survive through the hazards of other species. I think it means that for some species, their survival is limited, due to habitat and traits passed down to them.

2. The phenotypes/phenotype combinations I chose were the ones that could survive through cold, and humid conditions, and prevent other species attacking them. I think they survived the longest because, as Darwin quotes "survival of the fittest" which shows how I won the game using the techniques of choosing the right species of survival.

3. I think that the population of theoretical creatures would be affected by genetic drift because over time, the creatures are going to adapt differently to new environment changes and may have a gene variant change. The evidence of drift I noticed in the game was that over each generation, the organisms/species adapt to other environmental changes and survive through the generations.

4. The alleles/phenotypes that seemed to be dominant are when the species I chose in the game adapted/evolved to the environment, and how the species changed their traits and adaptation skills through the process of different climate and species breeding.

5. When the species face a new environmental change/threat, the way they respond to it dictates their phenotypes of being dominant/recessive, or the way they react and adapt to the change, for example: in cold conditions, if the species react the adaptation properly, will grow fur and hibernate and survive through the winter, in hot conditions, they will shed their skin, when a new large predator joins the scene, the species will usually fight back/run away, for a new tall food source, the surviving species who are tall enough to eat the tomato looking plants in the game will soon breed and exhibit variations and will be able to eat the plant for the next generation.

6. I would improve this simulation biologically by putting in real animal species, that show a realistic example of the animals real life natural selection process. I would also put in description of the environments on how the can effect the species, and lastly I would put on a description of the natural selection process from Charles Darwin himself, and facts about alleles/phenotypes to make it less confusing.

Question 1: Which part (anatomy) or characteristic of the Brassica oleracea plants seems to exhibit the most variation (greatest number of different forms)? Which part or characteristic of the Brassica oleracea plants seems to show the greatest range of variation (biggest difference between one extreme and its opposite)? Use and include data collected from multiple measurements to support your answer.

1. The part of the plant that had the greatest number of forms had to be the width of the leaf (5 in), and the length of the leaf (13 in) because of the different shape and size compared to the other plants. The other characteristic of the plant had to be the length of the leaf (13 in) compared to the height of the stem (7 in) because of the great difference in size.

Blog post 4

1. Some of the abiotic factors my plant uses for survival are:
-Air
-Water
-Soil
-Pollen
They all rely on the plant and help it survive by keeping it together with their enviormental uses.

2. The plants are competing with nature itself, and the envirorment around it.

3. The "winners" and "losers' in the struggle would have to be: the plants who aren't being supported, and the ones who aren't in a good enviorment that can't survive. What makes the determination complication sometimes is that it's hard to tell sometimes if you don't know what you're doing.

4. Other types of interaction with the plant involved is that sometimes it reacts to extreme growth when it mildly sprinkles, which shows it competing with the envirorment,  which shows interaction.

5. The evidence in the garden that is occurring in the ecosystem is that the plant is healthy and growing.

Blog post 8 Brendon Smith

I interviewed brendan smith, we were in the same group, he was amazed by the amount the plant had grown. They had holes in it from other plants had eaten small hole in the leafs. These bugs were very interesting to him. He enjoyed working with me.

I interviewed Eliot. What he learned over the blogposts was how plants grow and change through environmental changes. His favorite part was watching the plants grow through the semester. He enjoyed working with our group and got a lot done with us, he was a great help to our group and was very successful. His blogposts were very interesting and fun to read.

i think the parent plants were of the same breed and the offspring is exact pure breed family this plant and its siblings are exactly alike so i thingk that they have been imbreeded. they like like nothing the site shows the actual look alikes.

this is our plant it is hard to think a few months ago this was a seed in a plastic bag that we have given life in our class garden the plant is around a near foot tall and have giant leafs with some holes because some animal has had a tasty treat.

hello I am Brendan smith. outdoors is the place to be connected to. my favorite plants are Schoenoplectus acutus or know as common tules. did u know the easiest spot in a lake to catch bass is in the tules because it provides food shelter and breeding spots. learning about brassica is very interesting because they are very common.
